How to install USB drivers and access memory card data of samsung galaxy

One problem I see many guys talking about this phone is their inability to install the USB drivers and access their memory card and internal memory contents. When you connect your phone via the USB for the first time, you need not necessarily have the USB drivers at hand. Your PC tries to get the drivers and ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS drag down the notification area(a simple drag down gesture on top of the home screen with battery and date in it) where-in you get a notification that your phone is connected via the USB with the USB symbol. then you get to see the notification message saying " USB Connected", select it and you will see an option to "Mount" and now you should be able to access the SD card and internal memory contents on your PC just the way you explore your hard drives.

PS: This phone doesn't support Bluetooth file transfer.

Some cool android apps( must have android apps)

First thing I observer on the galaxy is that it did not come with an explicit file explorer. It takes all the trouble in filtering the files by their types and putting them in their respective app folders( music, videos...). I personally did not like the idea though. then went my first search for a good file manager an almost unanimous choice of most users, Astro File Manager .
The browser that comes with the phone doesn't look good with not a number of options to me. if you're a fan of tabbed browsing go for Dolphin Browser .
Task manager is something you will need as a lot of apps wont offer you an exit button and they keep running in the background, an unnecessary drain of battery. There are many taskmanagers out there as always in the android market. I chose Advanced Task Manager among them and I am happy with it.
Spare parts is a nice app which describes the battery state, and gives a lot of options to check which app or which service is using the battery etc..
Mixzing is a popular audio player with nice features like song suggest and album art download.
Chump SMS and Handcent SMS are two alternate apps for the default messaging app provided with the phone, both of which have their own pros and cons. It all boils down to what you want from it.

android app does not download and install

There is this weird case on Android 1.5(I do not know if it exists in the later versions) that some times background data comes swift but when it comes to downloading, the app just doesn't download. If you've a task manager app running just see if a service by the name is running. If it's not launch the gtalk app and signin. Once signed in there is a lot of chance that your starts downloading and installing all by itself. If not, open the market app again and you may find it now.

How to improve samsung galaxy battery life/ Samsung Galaxy battery fix

Many of you might be wondering how Samsung  claims to have an AMOLED display that brings down battery usage by 25% while being brilliant on the display front.

If your Galaxy doesn't last a full day after a full charge you might be worried and rightly so. Just a few things to look out to troubleshoot the battery draining:
1) The battery meter shows anything above 70% as full battery level. Adding to the woes, the battery meter doesn't seem to move when it reaches a level more than 70% while charging, which may seem to us fully charged.
So how to solve this? There are apps/widgets in the android market for free like "Battery Widget" ,"Spare parts" which show you the exact battery level. Add the widget onto your homescreen and you know anytime what the exact level is.
2) Start-up apps when your galaxy starts. Many apps and services start when you turn on your Galaxy which might lead unwanted usage of battery.
Solution: There are apps out there to tell your galaxy to allow only a specific set of apps/services to start with your Galaxy. There are apps which act like task manager on Windows that allow you to end unwanted services and apps. One such app is Advanced task manager which also comes with a widget that can be placed on your home screen and end any apps running in the background.
3) Disable background data in the "data Synchronization" sub menu of Android built-in app "Settings". This uses GPRS and EDGE or even 3G data which drains the battery.
4) Most important fix of all: DO NOT USE THE POUCH THAT COMES WITH YOUR MOBILE. The Galaxy just about fits into the pouch which makes you feel it is safe in there. But it keeps the Camera hot key pressed and keeps the phone from sleeping. This might lead to draining of your battery by over 30 % overnight. Just to try out, do not put the mobile in the pouch for a night and check the battery level. You'll know the difference.
5) The Galaxy comes with the android OS 1.5, just find out if there is an official OS upgrade in your country.
